If you are interested in art, you should definitely spend a day in the MuseumsQuartier. It is one of the biggest art and cultural complexes in the world. You can find more than 60 cultural facilities here. Historic buildings from the 18th and 19th century and contemporary museums form a unique architectural ensemble that create a special ambience. One of the absolute highlights is the Leopold Museum with the largest and most important holdings of masterpieces of Egon Schiele as well as the highlights of Jugendstil and classical modern art. If you are more interested in contemporary art, then we suggest a visit to the mumok-Museum of Modern Art - Stiftung Ludwig Wien. Everybody who loves to dance should see the Tanzquartier Wien – the center of contemporary dance and performance. In the Kunsthalle Wien you can also enjoy photography, video, film, installations and new media. The MuseumsQuartier also offers something for all the architecture fans out there: every year several changing exhibitions take place in the Architekturzentrum Wien
Before coming to Vienna you should inform yourself about all the different events and international productions from the various fields e.g. music, theatre, dance in the Halle E+G as well as the program DSCHUNGEL Wien, which is a theater for children and young adults. However, if you don’t want to spend your vacation in museums, you should try the Cafes on the terrace, the bars and the shops in the MuseumsQuartier. There is always something going on – summer and winter.
By the way, did you know that almost three hundred years passed from the beginning of the construction of the imperial stables in the early 18th century and the area’s later use as a fairground and exposition center to the opening of the MuseumsQuartier in 2001?
